Adele

Could you find me?
Would you, kiss-a my eyes?
To lay me down...
in silence easy
to be born again...

Adele. (Part I)

“That's the Moon, sweetie. Our satellite.”
“Moon.” Adele repeated. “And… what's a satellite dad?”
“A satellite it's uhmm... it's a different kind of... uhmmm... let's see, how can I explain this? A satellite is any object that moves around a celestial body”
“So, Chester is a satellite?” Adele asked picking up Chester in her small arms.
“No” he laughed “Chester is not a satellite. Chester is our dog.”
“But he moves around me every time I play.”
“Yes, but you are a person, a beautiful five year old girl, not a planet or star.”
“I'm still four daddy.”
“I know sweetie, but tomorrow is a very special day.”

All the neighbour's children were invited to the party. Running up and down in the backyard, they only quieted down when the birthday cake was on the table. After the cake, Adele started opening every gift from the pyramid piled up in his bedroom.

To our future astronaut” read the small pink card. She unwrapped the gift only to discover a beautiful telescope. Daddy’s special gift was always knowing what she wanted the most. That same night, she climbed up to the roof’s house searching for that "satellite" thing hoping to touch it if only with her eyes.

“Amazing! It's so big and bright! Look Chester, I bet you've never seen anything like it, have you?” she said putting the telescope right in front of Chester's eyes.

Night after night, she went up to the roof right after mom and dad went to sleep.
“Chester! Something is wrong. This telescopthing's broken. It looks like the Moon is shrinking.” she cried. She tried to fix the telescope but there was nothing to do. The Moon was, in fact, shrinking.  “We have to do something Chester! We can't let it disappear!”

One night, Adele could not find the Moon anymore. It was gone. Chester ran around her and howled in despair. Adele sat alone in the dark and cried.“We have to take it back Chester. It can't be gone.”
